Grace has been best friends with Ella and Flick since university. The late-night chats, shared heartaches and good times have created a bond that has stood the test of time. Now in their thirties, Grace is always a bit disappointed about how little time they get to spend together, so when Ella invites them all to stay for a week in her cottage in South Wales, Grace jumps at the chance to see her old friends. She also hopes that the change in pace will help her reconnect with her husband, Harry. Unfortunately for her, Harry isn’t as enamoured with Cwtch Cottage as she is. Then Flick arrives; loveable, bubbly Flick, accompanied by the handsome and charming Noah, and suddenly the week ahead looks as though it may be even more confusing for all the residents of Cwtch Cottage.
There are very few certainties in life sadly these days, but one that I can say with confidence is that you know when you pick up the latest Carole Matthews you will happily miss the whole of that day whilst your absorb yourself into her latest world and devour it from cover to cover. That is exactly what I did on a Saturday….Hot chocolate, Onesie, Daughter at her Dad’s … I didn’t move (other than the odd snack!!)
Yet again, Carole has written a believable book with such strong characters that you warm too straight away. This time you are transported to the gorgeous coastline of Wales where we meet three Uni friends and their associated ‘Partners’. What starts out as weeks break from the troubles of home actually turns into a heartfelt emotional rollercoaster with friendships tested and boundaries crossed.
Written with such confidence and beautiful detail this is exactly what you’d hope it to be. I can’t help think that Carole’s writing is just getting better and better with every book she releases and I’m a big fan. ChicLit at it’s best and absolutely worthy of a Louise Loved …..
